Washington Twp. Avalanche 2

Tide Tie Again

The Florence Tide and the Washington Twp. Avalanche played to a 2-2 tie.  For the second week in a row, the Tide jumped out to a two-goal lead but were unable to protect the lead and had to settle for a tie.  Alexandria Fantozzi scored both goals for the Tide assisted by Lorraine Perri (2), Cori-Lynn Cubberley (2), Amanda Lutz and Alyssa Mitchell.

3/25/06

Florence Tide 3 -

Seneca Pinelands Surge 0

Tide Win on the Road

The Tide defeated the Seneca Pinelands Surge, 3 - 0.  The Tide started a bit sluggish, having trouble stringing together passes and finishing off their opportunities.  However, the Tide woke up in the second half to score three unanswered goals. Cayla Bercaw led the way with two goals followed by a single tally from Angela Federico.  The goals were assisted by Cori-Lynn Cubberley (2), and Krista Brandle.  Cori-Lynn Cubberley and Lorraine Perri shared duty in goal to preserve the shutout.

4/1/06

Florence Tide 3 -

Burlington Twp. Spirit 2

Tide defeat previously unbeaten Spirit in the middle of a brief downpour

The Tide defeated the first place Burlington Twp. Spirit, 3 - 2.   The Tide played their best soccer to date while dealing with Mother Nature.  The skies opened up mid-way through the first half with a wind-driven thunder shower that briefly slowed down the Tide attack as they scored all of their goals to take a 3 - 0 lead.  In the second half both teams had numerous scoring opportunities with the Spirit scoring their two goals off of a penalty shot and a Tide miscue late in the game.  Cayla Bercaw led the way with two goals followed by a single tally from Cori-Lynn Cubberley.  The goals were assisted by Alexandria Fantozzi, Lorraine Perri, Kelsey Kapica, Amy Mills and Krista Brandle.

4/8/06

Florence Tide 2 -

Wenonah Wildfire 1

Tide defeat Wildfire on a rain-soaked, bitterly cold day

The Tide defeated the Wenonah Wildfire, 2 - 1 and are currently in first place.   The Tide and Wildfire not only played a hard-fought game but they had to deal with Mother Nature.  It was a raw, rain-soaked, bitterly cold day.  The girls on both sides played their hearts out. Cayla again led the way with two goals assisted by Cori-Lynn, Amanda L., and Alyssa.  Lorraine and Cori-Lynn shared duty in goal.

4/30/06 Tide 0 -

Wildfire 2

Tide play hard but come up short against the Wildfire

The Tide lost to the Wenonah Wildfire, 2 - 0 and dropped their second game of the weekend.   The Tide played hard and controlled play for the most part but could not finish their shots.  The Wildfire countered well and took advantage of some misplays in the Tide defense to walk away with the victory. Lorraine and Krista shared duty in goal.

5/6/06 Tide 2 - Seneca 1
5/13/06 Tide 2 -

Spirit 1

Tide has the Spirit's Number

For the second time this season the Tide have defeated the Burlington Spirit.  This time the score was 2-1.  As in the first game, Mother Nature opened on the game with a brief down pour.  However, this didn't stop the Tide.  The first half ended 0-0.  But, in the second half the Tide quickly netted two goals to take a 2-0 lead but with less than four minutes remaining in the game the tenacious Spirit scored their only goal.  The Tide defense withstood the Spirit pressure.  Cayla led the Tide attack with two goals assisted by Marney and Alyssa.  Krista made some great saves in goal to preserve the victory.
