Fire 4 - Rebels 4 |
The Florence Fire and the Voorhees Runnin' Rebels battled to a 4-4 tie. It was a tale of two halves. In the first half the Fire faced a stiff wind and a determined opponent as they were down 4-1 that also included two penalty shots against them. In the second half, the Fire played inspired soccer to dominate the Runnin' Rebels and walk away with a well deserved tie. Ron Lind and Kendrell David each scored two goals assisted by Greg Perri (2), Lyle Meister, Dakota Benish, Daniel Belcher and Ron Lind. |

Fire 3 - Hurricanes 0 |
The Fire defeated the Pennsauken Hurricanes, 3 - 0. The Fire scored two goals in the first half by Ron Lind and Kendrell David assisted by Greg Perri on both goals and Dakota Benish on one. In the second half, Jake Ruzycki scored the third goal off of some nice passing and "give-and-go's" by four players. Jake's goal was assisted by Kellen Groover, Kendrell David and Ron Lind. Zach Ronyach was in goal to preserve the shutout. |
|
4/2/06 |
Fire 1 - Thunder 1 |
Fire battle Thunder to a tie The Fire tied the Cherry Hill United Thunder, 1 - 1. The Fire scored early against a scrappy Thunder team but couldn't hold the lead as the Thunder put tremendous pressure on the Fire defense to tie the game late in the second half. The Fire's lone goal was scored by Ron Lind assisted by Daniel Belcher, Greg Perri and Kendrell David. |
|
4/9/06 |
Fire 3 - Waterford Wings 3 |
Fire battle back for another tie The Fire tied the Waterford Wings, 3 - 3. This is their third tie in four games and are currently undefeated but they must find a way to win these games to keep up with the front-running Hamilton Gaels. The Fire battled back three times to walk away with a hard-fought tie, however. The Fire's goals were scored by Ron, Kendrell and Jake assisted by Shawn, Jake, Greg and Kellen. Zach came up big in goal on numerous occasions to preserve the tie. |
| 4/30/06 | Fire 3 - Vipers 2 |
Fire battle back for a stunning victory The Fire defeated the Tarkill Vipers, 3 - 2. This game had it's share of "ups-and-downs" throughout. The Fire controlled play for most of the game but had to battle back on two occasions. Early on the Vipers took advantage of some sloppy play on defense to take a 1-0 lead. However, the Fire battled back to tie it 1-1. Kellen found Greg open on the 18 yard line, and Greg sent a shot to the Vipers far post which found Jake attacking on the wing for the initial score. The tie was short-lived however as the Vipers quickly took the lead 2-1 midway through the second half. It appeared the Fire were heading for a loss. But, with over seven minutes remaining the Fire tied the game 2-2. Kellen, Colin and Nick passed the ball beautifully to an open Ron Lind who found the back of the net. This sparked the Fire as they mounted more pressure on the Vipers defense and with 3 minutes remaining Jake deflected a Vipers' kick to Greg who crossed the ball to Colin who blasted home the game winner. |
| 5/7/06 | Fire 3 - Hurricanes 1 |
Fire continue to win The Fire defeated the TBAA Hurricanes, 3-1 to remain undefeated and are still in the hunt for the conference title. The Fire struck early as Kendrell scored the first of his hat-trick in the first half assisted by Greg and Ron. However, the Hurricanes quickly responded off of a defensive miscue to knot the score 1-1. In the second half, the Fire played inspired and dominated the game. Kendrell scored two more goals assisted by Jake, Ron, and Kellen. Zach played a nice game in goal. |
| 5/14/06 | Fire 1 - Gaels 1 |
Fire Tie the Gaels The top two teams in the Conference battled it out to a 1-1 tie and both remain undefeated. However, the Gaels win the Conference with more victories. It was a hard fought game with end-to-end action. Both teams had opportunities to walk away with a victory. The Gaels opened the second half with a quick goal to catch the Fire flat-footed. However, they responded nicely as Ron scored to tie the game. He was assisted by Kendrell and Colin. Zach made some nice saves to preserve the tie. |
| 5/21/06 | Fire 0 - Gaels 3 |
Gaels end Fire's
undefeated season
The top two undefeated teams in
the Conference battled it out. However, the Gaels came to play
while the Fire looked uninspired as they were defeated 3 - 0. The
Gaels scored all of their goals in the first half due in part to
some questionable calls by the referee that resulted in two quick
goals. The frustrated Fire tried to play catch-up but just couldn't
keep up with the talented Gaels. The Fire finished with a record of
3 wins, 1 loss, and 4 ties. It was a nice season overall... way to
go! Let's do it in the Burlington Tournament.
