Atlantic United 1 |
The Florence Tide traveled to Port Republic, New Jersey
near the shore by Absecon to play the Atlantic United Alleycats.
It was a cloudy, comfortable day with the sun occasionally poking
through the clouds. The Tide tied the Alleycats 1 - 1. It
was an exciting, hard fought game from start to finish. It
appeared the Tide would walk away with the victory as they scored
early in the game. Five minutes in, Mandi Barone scored by
placing a shot in the lower left corner of the net. The goal was
the result of some great passing as Cayla Bercaw worked her way from
the right halfback position to find right winger, Lorraine Perri, who
maneuvered around the Alleycats' left fullback to find an open Alex
Fantozzi. Alex then made a quick pass to Mandi for the
initial score. The Tide's lead was holding up for most of
the game until the Alleycats pressure finally broke through the Tide
defense with the equalizer with less than 14 minutes remaining in the
game. Angela Federico and Cayla Bercaw both played terrific in
goal to help maintain the tie.

Florence Tide Lose a heartbreaker
The Florence Tide lost to the Seneca Pinelands
Fireflies 2 - 1. It was an exciting, hard fought game from
start to finish but it was also a frustrating game for the Tide as
they could not capitalize on the numerous scoring opportunities,
which is the story of the Tide season early on as they are having
problems scoring goals. The Tide's lone goal was scored
early in the first half as Brigitte Pastore made a long
throw-in to Alex Fantozzi who made a hard cross to an open
Lorraine Perri as she placed the ball in the lower left
corner of the Fireflies goal. The Tide's lead was
holding up for most of the first half until the Fireflies
pressure finally broke through the Tide defense with the
equalizer. The Fireflies eventually scored the game winner
midway through the second half. Goalies Cori-Lynn Cubberley
and Lorraine Perri both made some nice saves to keep the game
close. Defensively, Jean Oros made a great stop on a
shot that was heading for a goal.

Florence Tide Lose on the road
The Florence Tide lost to the Waterford Wildcats 3
- 0. The Tide showed signs of what they are capable of with
a number of multiple player passing sequences. They look
forward to ending their losing streak with their first home game
tomorrow.

Monroe Bombers 1 |
Florence Tide Tie First Home Game of the
Season
The Florence Tide played at home for the first time
this season and came up with their best performance of the
season. They outplayed a good Bombers squad for most of the
game. The Tide beat the Bombers to the ball throughout the
contest. A few missed opportunities on offense prevented the
Tide from scoring more than one goal. The Tide look forward
to two more home games next weekend.

Atlantic United 1 |
It was a gorgeous, sunny and breezy day as the Tide and the Atlantic United Alley cats played to a 1 - 1 tie. It was an exciting, hard fought game from start to finish but it was also a frustrating game for the Tide as they could not capitalize on the numerous scoring opportunities, which continues to be the story of the Tide season as they are having problems scoring goals. The Tide's lone goal was scored early in the second half as Jean Oros passed the ball to Cori-Lynn Cubberley who made a beautiful long cross to Alex Fantozzi for the tally. |

Glassboro
Toucans |
The Tide enjoyed perfect weather for their second home game
of the weekend and came away with another tie. This time the final
score was 2 - 2.
Ten minutes into the game Alex Fantozzi scored off of a cross from Jean Oros to open the scoring. Three minutes later the Toucans tallied on a PK driving the ball just inside the left post. Seventeen minutes into the second half the Tide moved into the lead on a shot by Alyssa Mitchell from 15 yards out assisted by Brigitte Pastore and Lorraine Perri. With 5 minutes left in the game the Toucans scored the tying goal on another PK. This time placing a hard shot in the upper right corner. The Tide's defense limited the Toucans opportunities and goal keeper Cayla Bercaw came up big on a number of impressive stops. Cayla's long punts helped the Tide's offensive pushes all afternoon. Both teams put in a good effort and played physical throughout the exciting match. |

Monroe 3 |
The temperature was comfortable
despite cloudy skies for the Tide's visit to Monroe. The field was
a bit soggy and there were large puddles near the benches. One
ball landed in a puddle by the Monroe bench and splashed all of their
coaches.
The Tide played the first half with no subs. Despite a good effort they were down 1-0 at the half. Just two minutes into the second half the Tide scored on a play that started with a long throw-in by Brigitte Pastore to Cori-Lynn Cubberley who passed to Jean Oros who knocked the ball into the goal. Unfortunately the Tide had a defensive lapse shortly after the kick off and the Bombers were back up 2-1. Monroe expanded their lead to 3-1 with 13:30 left in the game but the Tide did not quit. They responded with a goal just 2 minutes later as Jean Oros found an open Alyssa Mitchell who scored. The Tide had a number of good scoring chances through out the game but were unable to find the goal in the last 11 minutes and lost a well played game 3-2. Cayla Bercaw played goal keeper for the entire game. |

Tide suffers another heartbreaking loss
The weather was beautiful, sunny and windy. A perfect day
for soccer but a difficult day for the Tide. The Tide
controlled the game for the most part but could not capitalize on
the numerous scoring opportunities and lost a heartbreaker 1 - 0
to the Seneca Pinelands Fireflies.

Waterford Wildcats 4 |
Tide plays hard but comes up short
The weather was cool, cloudy and the field was wet. The
Tide played hard against one of the top teams in the conference,
the Waterford Wildcats. In fact, the Tide controlled
the game for the most part but could not capitalize on the
numerous scoring opportunities and lost 4 - 1. After
putting tremendous pressure on the Wildcats, the Tide found
themselves down, 2 - 0, on two break aways. The Tide
rebounded on a goal by Lorraine Perri off of a corner kick
from Cayla Bercaw. Late in the game with the score 2 - 1,
the Tide pushed up the entire team trying to get the equalizer.
However, the Wildcats took advantage of the offensive minded Tide
and scored on two more break aways to end the Tide's scoring
threats.
