Florence Fire - 5 Haddonfield Mutiny - 0 |
Florence Fire Torch the Mutiny
It was a hot, sunny day but the Fire were even hotter. The Fire defeated the Haddonfield Mutiny 5 - 0. It was a total team effort as the Fire displayed a balance attack with precision passing and a solid defense limiting the Mutiny to two shots the entire game. Ron Lind opened the scoring assisted by Zach Beeman and Doug Mac Arthur. Dalton Craft followed with two goals assisted by Greg Perri, Doug Mac Arthur, Daniel Belcher, Mike Barone and Stephen Dwyer. The first half ended with the Fire leading 3 - 0. The Fire continued to put on the heat in the second half with two more goals. Zach Beeman scored on a beautiful shot 18 yards out off of a long pass from Greg Perri. Zach Ronyack finished the scoring on an unassisted break away. Other players contributing to the offensive threat were Jake Ruzycki, Colin O'Brien, and Shawn Carmignani. Defensively, the Fire were led by Daniel Marant, Dakota Benish, Adam Archer and goal keepers Zach Ronyack and Doug Mac Arthur. |

Florence Fire maintain a hold on first
place
It was a beautiful, sunny but windy day in
Blackwood, NJ. The Florence Fire traveled to the
Valleybrook Sports Complex to tie the TBAA Hurricanes 1 - 1. It
was a hard fought game but the Fire had numerous scoring
opportunties and finally broke through midway through the second
half with a goal by Doug Mac Arthur assisted by Colin O'Brien.
It appeared the Fire were headed for victory, but a tenacious
Hurricanes offense finally scored with less than four minutes
remaining in the game. Zach Ronyack made some nice saves in goal
for the Fire to preserve the tie. By the way, TBAA stands for
"Timberbirch Broadmoor Athletic Association."

Florence Fire - 3 Washington Thunder - 2 |
Florence Fire burn the Washington
Thunder
The Florence Fire beat the Washington Thunder 3 - 2.
It was a difficult game for the Fire, which looked sluggish at
times, but still had numerous scoring opportunties and finally
broke through with two goals in the first half. Doug Mac
Arthur scored the first goal for the Fire assisted by Stephen
Dwyer and Ron Lind; and, Stephen Dwyer ended the first
half for the Fire by scoring on a rebound off of the Thunder goalie on
a hard shot by Greg Perri. In the second half, the Thunder
rebounded quickly and scored early to cut the Fire lead 2 - 1, but the
Fire responded to extend the lead 3 - 1. The Fire's third goal
was the result of nice ball handling and precision passing by both Greg
Perri and Doug Mac Arthur to Stephen Dwyer who blasted a
shot in the far corner of the Thunder goal. The Thunder did not
give up as they scored again with about seven minutes remaining
in the game to cut the Fire lead 3 - 2, which was the final score as
the Fire hung on to hold off the Thunder attack. Goalies
for the Fire were Zach Ronyack, Dalton Craft and Zach Beeman.

Florence Fire - 3 Glassboro Golden Falcons - 1 |
Fire rally to beat the Golden Falcons
The Florence Fire beat the Glassboro Golden Falcons 3 - 1. Two
of the top teams in the West Continental Conference battled it out to a scoreless
tie in the first half. However, the Golden Falcons struck early in
the second half to take 1 - 0 lead. The Fire rebounded with an explosion
as they scored three unanswered goals in the last twenty minutes of the game
to pull out the victory. Dalton Craft scored the first goal
for the Fire assisted by Greg Perri and Ron Lind; and, Ron
Lind scored the Fire second goal assisted by Mike Barone, Shawn
Carmignani, Greg Perri, and Dalton Craft. Jake Ruzycki finished the
scoring off of a beautiful cross by Ron Lind assisted by Mike Barone and
Stephen Dwyer. Goalie Zach Ronyack made numerous fantastic saves for the
Fire to preserve the victory.

Florence Fire - 0 Northern Burlington Dragons - 4 |
Fire suffer first loss to NB Dragons
The Northern Burlington Dragons took advantage of
some early mistakes by the Fire defense to quickly jump out to 3 - 0
first half lead. In the second half, the Fire were
tenacious as they out-hustled and outplayed an overly aggressive
Dragons team; but, the Fire couldn't capitalize. The Fire put
tremendous pressure on the Dragon's goalie who came up with great
saves to further frustrate the Fire. In fact, the Dragon's lone
shot in the second half resulted in a goal as the ball bounced around
the Fire goal area. It was a tough 4 - 0 loss because the score
really did not indicate how close the game really was.

Fire ambush the Mutiny
The Florence Fire defeated the Haddonfield Mutiny 6 - 0.
The Fire rebounded from last weeks disappointing loss to the
Northern Burlington Dragons with a vengeance. Ron Lind led
the attack with two goals and two assists. Other players
contributing to the offense were Colin O'Brien (one goal, one
assist), Shawn Carmignani (one goal, two assists), Doug
Mac Arthur (one goal, one assist), Stephen Dwyer (one goal), Greg
Perri (four assists), Jake Ruzycki (two assists), Dalton Craft
(one assist), Mike Barone (one assist), and Daniel Marant (one
assist). Defensively the Fire were led by Daniel
Belcher, Dakota Benish, Zach Beeman and Goalies Zach Ronyack and
Dalton Craft. With first place on the line, the Fire's next
opponent will be the TBAA (Timberbirch Broadmoor
Athletic Association) Hurricanes.

Florence Fire - 1 TBAA Hurricanes 3 |
Fire Suffers Heartbreaking Loss
With first place on the line the Florence Fire lose a
heartbreaker to the TBAA Hurricanes, 3 - 1. The Fire
controlled the game for the most part but could not capitalize on
the numerous scoring opportunities. In the first half, the
Fire faced a stiff wind that helped the Hurricanes jump out to a 2
- 0 lead by scoring on long kicks that took unfortunate bounces
against the Fire. In the second half, the Fire mounted
tremendous pressure on the Hurricane defense but could not break
through until Daniel Marant, Sweeper, sent a 35-yard wind-aided,
rocket of a shot in the upper corner of the Hurricane net.
The Fire were inspired, but couldn't finish their shots.
And, the bubble bursted when the Hurricanes scored late in the
second half on a break away.

Florence Fire - 2 Washington Township Thunder - 1
|
Fire win in dramatic fashion
The weather was beautiful, sunny and windy. A
perfect day for soccer and a perfect day for the Fire as they battled
the Washington Twp. Thunder to an exciting 2 - 1 victory and kept
their hopes alive for the conference championship. Ron Lind
opened the scoring off of an assist by Doug Mac Arthur and the Fire
were leading midway through the first half; however, the Thunder
quickly responded to tie the Fire 1 - 1. In the second half, the
Fire played against a stiff wind and against a stiff opponent but that
didn't stop the Fire as they controlled play. With less than
three minutes remaining in the game, Fire goalie Zach Ronyack restarted
play with a quick goal-kick before the Thunder could set up their
defense and found a wide open Greg Perri who dribbled the length of
the field around three Thunder players and made a long cross to Ron
Lind who blasted home the game winner.

Florence Fire - 0 Glassboro Golden Falcons - 6 |
Fire shocked by Golden Falcons
It was cold and breezy in Glassboro, and the Fire played as if
they were frozen. The Golden Falcons handed the Fire their
worst defeat in their young existence as they were outplayed from
start to finish and lost 6 - 0. The Fire's opportunity for
the Conference Championship is now lost, but they can finish in
second place with a victory over the Northern Burlington Dragons.

Fire suffer an exciting loss
The weather was cool, cloudy and the field was wet and
muddy. The Fire battled the Northern Burlington
Dragons for second place in the conference. It was an
exciting back-and-forth game as both teams could not take advantage of
the numerous scoring opportunities. In fact, the Fire misfired
on three point blank shots, including a break away with five
minutes remaining in the game. The Dragons took advantage of the
Fire's missed opportunities and a break down in defense to score the
game winner with less than three minutes remaining to walk away with a
hard fought 1 - 0 victory.
