Fire suffer first loss to NB Dragons

Fire win in dramatic fashion

The weather was beautiful, sunny and windy.  A perfect day for soccer and a perfect day for the Fire as they battled the Washington Twp. Thunder to an exciting 2 - 1 victory and kept their hopes alive for the conference championship.  Ron Lind opened the scoring off of an assist by Doug Mac Arthur and the Fire were leading midway through the first half; however, the Thunder quickly responded to tie the Fire 1 - 1.  In the second half, the Fire played against a stiff wind and against a stiff opponent but that didn't stop the Fire as they controlled play.  With less than three minutes remaining in the game, Fire goalie Zach Ronyack restarted play with a quick goal-kick before the Thunder could set up their defense and found a wide open Greg Perri who dribbled the length of the field around three Thunder players and made a long cross to Ron Lind who blasted home the game winner.
