FLORENCE FLASHES U15 GIRLS TRAVEL
The Flashes have moved up to the U15 division of the South Jersey Girls Soccer League (SJGSL) for the Fall 2002 season. After two straight U14 conference titles, the Flashes rating has placed them in the premier National Conference as a U15 squad. Coaches Roseanne Steffen and Wayne Spence welcome new coach Debra Lyons and look forward to a challenging, and winning, season. Follow the Flashes in the SJGSL by visiting www.sjgsl.org. The Flashes opened the season in the premier National Conference on the road versus an established Atlantic United club. Much to the excitement of the Flashes coaches and parents, the girls totally dominated the game resulting in an opening day 5-0 victory. Kaitlyn Antolic picked-up the shutout in goal, with newcomer Samantha Eib finishing out the last 15 minutes as keeper. Goals were punched in by Felicia Bonsanto (2); Ashley Nyul (2); and Katelyn Steffen. Assists were recorded by Ashley Nyul, Brittany Spence, Katelyn Steffen, and Sam Weer. Kaitlyn Antolic came out of goal just in time to also record an assist. |

On the road again, the Flashes took an early 1-0 lead with a goal by Ashley Nyul on an excellent assist from Sam Weer. Unfortunately, the Flashes could not score the equalizer as they fell to a tough Moorestown club, 2-1. The girls look forward to next week and their first home game. Please come out to support the team! |

Florence 2 TBAA 1 |
On the road for their 3rd consecutive game and healthy for the first time this year, the determined Flashes celebrated a 2-1 victory over TBAA. The game was hard-fought on both sides of the ball with Keeper Kaitlyn Antolic keeping the opponent out of goal and giving her team the opportunity to win the game. A first half goal by Ashley Nyul, assisted by Sam Weer, put the Flashes up 1-0 but TBAA bounced back within a few minutes with the tying goal. The second half was full of missed opportunities until Jackie Miller took a crossing pass from Ashely Nyul and deposited it into the back of the net for the game winner. The defense came up big late in the game as the Flashes improved to 3-1-0 in the conference. |

A road-weary Flashes team fell to Rancocas Valley 2-1 in a
battle for sole possession of first place in the conference. The
Flashes completely out shot RV but could not find the back of the net to
force a tie and had many opportunities to win the game outright.
The Flashes lone goal by Sam Weer was off an excellent corner kick by
Chloe Bercaw. The Flashes (3-2)look forward to a bye week and the second half of the season. Their first home game (Oct 20th), in friendlier surroundings, should get them back on the winning track. |

Keeper Kaitlyn Antolic and the Flashes defense had a great game as they kept Barrington out of goal. However, many more missed opportunities on offense resulted in a 0-0 tie. The Flashes offense continues to pressure every opponent and hope to get back on the scoring track in next week's home game vs. Atlantic United. |

The Flashes recorded their 3rd shutout of the season and got back on the winning track by defeating visiting Atlantic United 4-0. Goals were recorded by Felicia Bonsanto (2), Ashley Nyul, and Jackie Miller with assists by Samantha Eib, Katelyn Steffen, and Samantha Weer. A strong middle game by Chloe Bercaw, Carly Blanton, Sam Eib, and Sam Weer continually fed the offense and allowed the Flashes defense to shut down the opponent and allow only a few shots on goal. The Flashes improved to 4-2-1 and look forward to next week's game versus the 1st place Barrington "A" club. |

The Flashes just could not find the net, but never gave up, as they fell to Barrington's "A" club 4-0. Barrington remains in first place in the conference, as the Flashes fall to 4-3-1. Florence has a bye next week and finish the season against Rancocas Valley before preparing for the Thanksgiving Tournament in Bordentown. |

The final game of the Fall season was cancelled with no make-up scheduled. The Flashes (5-3-1) will now prepare for the Thanksgiving Weekend Tournament in Bordentown. |
