FLORENCE TITANS RESULTS

September 8, 2002

West Deptford 2 - Florence Titans 1

Florence Titans U13 Boys Travel club opened the fall season with a tough loss on the road to West Deptford Predators. Florence struck early getting a goal from Milorad Milosouici, assisted by Eric Voj, but with the Florence squad playing shorthanded and in 90-degree temps they couldn’t with stand a second half charge by the Predators. Florence got some great defensive play from Tim Steffen,

Shawn Henry, Jeffrey Kapica and Anthony Gilbert. Ouididiy Chuceay had a strong goaltending effort before falling to the heat and the Predators 2-1.

Florence coaches want to thank the players for an outstanding effort under the conditions, which we asked them to play. Thank you the hard work will pay off!!

Milorad Milosouici (2 goals) and Cory Haluska (1 goal & 2 assists) got things rolling in the first half. The second half was all Florence with Sean Henry (2 goals & 1 assist) and Eric Voj goal providing the finishing touches on a very impressive win for the Home team. Florence again got great defensive play from Tim Steffen (1 assist), Anthony Gilbert, Jeff Kapica and Matt Plantier. Matt Belcher had an outstanding second half in goal to shut down the Clash to even their record at 1-1-0.

Florence Titans 2 - Cinnaminson Demons 2

Florence Titans traveled down Route 130 this week and took on a very tough Cinnaminson squad. The Titans put steady first half pressure on the Demons net, but found themselves down 2-0 at half time. Knowing they should have fared better, Florence came out in the second half with a lot of determination. It finally paid off when Milorad Milosouici fed a speeding Eric Voj on the wing, who deposited it into the net to cut the lead in half. It looked like Florence was headed for a tough loss late in the contest, until Tim Steffen found Cory Haluska wide open at the top of box, Cory didn’t waste another minute sending a perfect shot in the far corner of the net tying the score at 2-2. Florence got a fantastic defensive effort from Anthony Gilbert, Shawn Henry and Tim Steffen to keep the score close. For the second week in a row Matt Belcher shut down the opposition with a scoreless second half in net. Florence record stands at 1-1-1.

Monroe Cecil Deli 6 - Florence Titans 1

Goals: Assists:
Cory Haluska Erik Voj

Florence Titans were overwhelmed by a very talented Monroe team. Monroe scored in the opening minute of the game, which seemed to put Florence back on their heals a bit. Before they were able to regroup, Florence found them selves down 2-nil. Midway through the first half Florence regrouped and cut the lead in half, when Erik Voj sent a pass across to Cory Haluska who fired it past a scrambling Monroe goalie. Florence controlled play until just before half time following the goal, but just couldn’t find the net again. Monroe scored again just before half time and never looked back, controlling play for just about the entire second half. The final score could have been worse, if it wasn’t for some great saves by Matt Belcher.

Florence’s record stands at 1-2-1 on the season.

Florence Titans 6 - Princeton Power 1

Goals: Assists:

Cory Haluska  Erik Voj
Matt Plantier Milorad Milosovici
Thomas Kurtz Cory Haluska
Anthony Gilbert/ Cory Haluska Tim Steffen

Florence Titans got back on the winning track with a convincing win over visiting Princeton Power. Forward Milorad Milosovici and mid-fielder Tim Steffen teamed up to get Florence going after a slow start. Milorad scored the games first two goals with Steffen picking up both assists. Erik Voj intercepted a Princeton clearing pass, then found a wide open Cory Haluska, who deposited in the net for Florence third goal of the game. Milorad went to work again setting up Matt Plantier, who’s first goal of the season sailed over Princeton’s goalie for a 4 nil advantage. Thomas Kurtz hearing the coach’s advice to crash the net scored his first of the season on a rebound, off a shot by Cory Haluska. Florence’s last goal of the day was your basic "sharks smelling blood variety". Cory Haluska sent a hard low shot, which Princeton’s goalie was able to get a hand on, but couldn’t control. Anthony Gilbert and Tim Steffen hustling to the open ball tapped the ball in to the net at the same time. If that’s not a sign of teamwork nothing is. Sean Henry was spectacular on defense shutting down Princeton’s attack, Sean even gave Danny a hand in net, stopping a sure Princeton goal which got behind Florence’s goalie. Dan Neas had an outstanding day in goal to picking up the victory and raising Florence’s record to 2-2-1.

Florence Titans 3 - Monroe Gabbianellis Construction 1

Goals: Assists:
Erik Voj Tim Steffen
Matt Belcher Cory Haluska
Cory Haluska  Matt Belcher

Florence Titans got back into action after taking the Columbus Day Weekend off, and looked a little rusty at the outset. Visiting Monroe opened the scoring early on in the first half, but that lead was short lived. Tim Steffen finding his team down early took control of the middle of the field with speed and determination mid-way through the first half, and the tide was turned. Tim set up Florence’s first goal after stripping a Monroe forward of the ball and hitting Erik Voj in mid stride on the right-wing, Erik deposited the pass in the far corner of the net to knot the score at 1-1. Matt Belcher put the home team ahead redirecting a shot by Cory Haluska past a startled Monroe goalie just prior to half time. After putting the home team ahead, Matt took over the goalie duties for Florence and was tested early and often in the second half making several outstanding saves on point blank shots. With Monroe pressing for the tying goal, Matt decided it was time for some breathing room. After another one of his nice saves he punted a ball past a drawn in defense, and found a sprinting Cory Haluska down the left side, who lofted a shot over a charging Monroe goal to set the final score and earn Florence a hard fought victory. Florence raised their record to 3-2-1.

Florence Titans 3 - Pittsgrove 0

Goals: Assists:
Matt Belcher Erik Voj
Milorod Milosovici Erik Voj
Milorod Milosovici Kevin Bailey

Florence Titans fought off the flu bug and the long drive to Pittsgrove, to come away with their forth win of the season. Playing the first half without any subs and a few players under the weather themselves, Florence knew they had to strike early and hold on. Matt Belcher provided that early cushion taking a drop pass from Erik Voj and fired a long shot from 25 yards out that just dropped under the cross bar for the first goal of the game. Florence got some fresh legs at half time when Milorad Milosovici arrived. He wasted no time getting on the score sheet, taking a pass from Erik Voj just inside the box, deking a few Pittsgrove defenders and beating a diving goalie for Florence’s second goal of the game. Milorad made the long drive worth while scoring his second of the game, Kevin Bailey assisted on goal, sending a pass through the Pittsgrove defense to spring "Milo" for the games final tally. The Titans got a great defensive effort from Anthony Gilbert, Tim Steffen and Shawn Henry to shut down the Pittsgrove offense. Danny Neas and Matt Belcher combined on the shutout, and helped raise Florence’s record on the season to 4-2-1.

Florence Titans 5 - Cinnaminson Demons 1

Goals: Assists:
Cory Haluska Jeffery Kapica
Cory Haluska Milorad Milosovici
Milorad Milosovici Kevin Bailey
Milorad Milosovici Tim Steffen
Cory Haluska Erik Voj

After playing the Demons to a 2 all tie earlier in the season at Cinnaminson, the Demons didn’t find their trip to Florence’s Marter Field to be quite as hospitable. Florence used the air attack early in the game, getting two bombs from Cory Haluska.

Jeffery Kapica setup Florence’s first goal, sending a pass up the wing to Cory who surprised the Cinnaminson goalie, by firing a shot from about 25 yards out hitting the far back corner of the net. Milorad Milosovici later in the game found Cory wide open on the wing, just to show everyone the first goal wasn’t a fluke, turned and fired a shot from just about the same area, and getting the same result. With Cinnaminson focusing on the air attack, Florence sent in the ground troops. Milorad Milosovici continued his outstanding play by taking a redirected pass from Kevin Bailey and tapping home Florence’s third goal of the game. Keeping the pressure on in the second half, Florence’s Tim Steffen found Milorad open at the top of the box, after tip-toeing around a few defender, which is becoming his trademark fired a shot just beating Cinnaminson’s goalie for a four goal advantage. Cinnaminson didn’t quit and came back with a goal midway through the second half ruining Florence’s bid for their second straight shutout. The Demons had a few good breakaway chances to get back in the game, but both times were denied by the hustle of Tim Steffen and Cory Haluska tracking the players down and not even letting them get off a shot. Erik Voj setup Florence’s final goal with a pass across to Cory Haluska who’s shot just under the cross bar completed his hat trick. Danny Neas made some outstanding saves in the first half to keep the visitors off the board and enabled Florence to raise their season record to 5-2-1.
